Character Creator 5
Version:
5.06
Status:
Not Reproducible
Issue 12475
Character morphs ignored on FBX export (reverts to base mesh) & Maya Auto Setup materials fail.
Steps to reproduce issue:

Customize a character in CC 5.06 using morphs. The changes are visible in the viewport.

Bake all sliders.

Export the character as FBX.

Import into Maya using the Auto Setup plugin.

Actual Result: 1. Morph Issue: upon export, the character mesh reverts to the standard base mesh. The custom morphs are completely ignored, even after baking sliders. However, the clothing morphs/deformations ARE applied correctly. 2. Auto Setup for Maya Issue: The material import does not work (textures/shaders fail to load). Note: The facial rig does import correctly in version 5.06.

Expected Result: The exported FBX should retain the baked character morphs as seen in the CC5 viewport, and the Auto Setup for Maya should correctly import the materials.

Hi davidbenavidesvfx,

Thank you for the detailed report and for providing the screenshot.

1. Auto Setup Material Issue:
We have recently released a new update for the Maya Auto Setup plugin. Please download and install the latest version, and try importing your character again. This update should resolve the issue where materials and shaders fail to load.

2. Character Morphs Reverting on FBX Export:
We have tested the FBX export process extensively on our end using CC 5.06, but the baked morphs exported successfully for us without reverting to the base mesh.

Since we cannot replicate the issue you are experiencing, it might be related to a specific setting, asset, or workflow in your current project. To help our QA team investigate exactly what is causing the morphs to drop, could you please provide:

    The original project file (.ccproject)

    The exported file (.fbx)

You can upload these to a cloud drive (like Google Drive or Dropbox) and share the link with us.

We look forward to your update!

Best regards,
Kayla

Hi davidbenavidesvfx,

I am just checking in on our previous reply regarding the Auto Setup Material and Character Morphs issues.

Please let us know if installing the latest Maya Auto Setup plugin resolved the material loading issue.

Additionally, if you are still encountering the morph issue during FBX export, please share the original project file (.ccproject) and the exported file (.fbx) via a cloud drive link (such as Google Drive or Dropbox). This will allow our team to investigate the root cause.

We look forward to your update!

Best regards,
Kayla
