Auto Setup: Jaw expression broken when using Skinned Expressions (works only with Convert to Morphs)
Environment: - Character Creator 5.05 - iClone 8.65 - Unreal Engine 5.x - Unreal Auto Setup: 2.0 and also reproducible in 1.4 - Unreal Live Link Plugin: 1.37 - Face Mocap (iPhone): 1.03
Issue: Facial animation behaves correctly in iClone, but after importing the FBX into Unreal using Auto Setup and driving it with Live Link Face, the jaw opens excessively and becomes unstable.
Multiple jaw-related curves appear to be over-amplified or incorrectly evaluated when using Skinned Expressions.
Workaround: Exporting the same character with "Convert Skinned Expressions to Morphs" enabled completely resolves the issue in Unreal.
This suggests a problem in the current Skinned Expressions → Unreal Auto Setup blueprint conversion path.
The same issue occurs in both Auto Setup 2.0 and 1.4.
Reproduction: 1. Export character from CC5 with default Skinned Expressions (Convert to Morphs OFF) 2. Import into Unreal using Auto Setup 3. Apply Live Link Face 4. Observe excessive jaw opening compared to iClone
Hi kodaira_account,
Thank you for the detailed report and the reproduction file.
We noticed from your environment list that you are currently using Unreal Live Link Plugin version 1.37.
Could you please update the Live Link Plugin to the latest version (1.38) and test again?
We have made improvements in v1.38 that address data evaluation issues, which might resolve the excessive jaw movement you are seeing with Skinned Expressions.
Please let us know if the issue persists after the update.
Best regards,
Kayla
