iClone 8
Version:
8.53
Status:
Not Reproducible
Issue 12009
Applying Animation takes too long
Applying an animation or pose to a character in iClone 8 causes a LONG "Updating Scene..." overlay to appear that temporarily blocks use of the application.

This lengthy pause did not occur in iClone 7 and is a severe downgrade in iClone 8 to have to wait 10-20 seconds every time you apply an animation.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select a character
2. Double click an animation or pose
3. Notice "Updating Scene..." appears and you have to wait

I understand there are reasons why it works this way, but the user experience is a net downgrade from v7 and this should be addressed and improved.

This is NOT project-specific. It happens on an empty scene with a default character like CC4 Camila.

Example:
1. Click 'New Project'
2. Load any default character (ie: CC4 Camila)
3. Double click any default motion or pose to apply it
4. Notice the loading bar that appears

In an empty scene the loading bar will go faster, but if you do the EXACT SAME steps in iClone 7, you will get NO loading bar.

The more the scene/project has going on, the worse it gets. The loading bar may have been added due to an intentional need, but the end result to the user experience is a downgrade in speed and ease of use to the end user from IC7.

---
Another interesting note: If you save a pose and apply it you get the loading bar. If you set a pose as default and then reset the pose to default, there's no loading bar. So it's 2 different ways of accomplishing the same thing (ie: I want to apply the pose), but only 1 of them gives this loading bar that doesn't seem to accomplish anything better.
