Hi Kayla
Thanks for getting back. Maya was completaly closed on deleting and installing the auto setup files. However, on investigation, whilst I have a Reallusion shelf in Maya, I'm not convinced that Reallusion is placing the plug in where maya expects it. I don't see any Reallusion plug in listed in the plug in manager. I have attached a few images to assist you. One is the Pymel.bat script that I get on installing it. Also a screengrab of the folder mentioned within that script message after install, (which may not be irrelevant anyway) and finally a screen grab of my plugin manager after install which doesn't show any plug in for Reallusion or CC - but does let you see where other plugins are located on my system. I hope ths helps?
Regards and thanks for your help
Keith

Hi keith_052606,

Thank you for getting back to us and for taking the time to carefully reinstall the plugin. We really appreciate your effort.

The new RuntimeError: No namespace matches name... you are seeing typically indicates that some core components of the plugin were not properly registered or loaded into Maya's environment.

To help us narrow down why this is still failing, could you please double-check two specific details regarding your installation?

1. Was Maya completely closed during the installation? Please ensure that Maya was fully shut down before and during the entire uninstallation and reinstallation process. Installing the plugin while Maya is running in the background can cause certain files to be locked and fail to update.

2. Is the "OSL Shader" still loaded?
After the clean installation, when you launch Maya, please go to Windows > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager. Could you check if the OSL Shader component is still there and has both the "Loaded" and "Auto load" boxes checked?

Please let us know your findings. We want to get this software working smoothly for you!

Best regards,
Kayla

Hi Kayla
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling carefully following the set out procedures. I can't think of anything I haven't done. I still get error message
'RuntimeError: No namespace matches name: 'cc5 character test' when I try to import using the autoset up. Nothing obvisuly imports. Does the issue lie somewhere in the name space?
Any ideas? I would love to get the software working.
Regards
Keith

Hi,keith_052606

Regarding the issue where the Auto Setup triggers the native FBX importer instead of the plugin window:

Could you please try reinstalling the Auto Setup plugin by strictly following the steps in our official manual? https://manual.reallusion.com/CC_and_IC_Auto_Setup_Plugin/ENU/CC_and_iC_Auto_Setup/1.4/05-for-Maya/Installing-CC-Auto-Setup-to-Maya.htm

We want to double-check that the "OSL Shader" component is correctly installed and loaded, as missing this component often causes the tool to revert to the native importer.

Please verify this step and let us know if the issue persists after the fresh installation.

Hi keith_052606,

I’m writing to follow up on the Auto Setup issue you reported.

Did a clean installation following the official guide resolve the problem?

If the tool still triggers the native FBX importer, please let us know:

  1. Are you seeing the "CC/iC Auto Setup" menu appear in Maya's top menu bar?

  2. Could you confirm the exact version of Maya you are currently running (e.g., Maya 2025.1)?

Your feedback will help us determine if this is a compatibility issue.

Best regards,
Kayla
