Issue 5469
Selecting multiple sub-props in the View Port no longer possible
Before release 7.3, the user could select multiple sub-props in the View Port (so the scene itself), by holding the Control key and then left-clicking each sub-prop that needed to be selected.

This is no longer possible in 7.3, because selecting a sub-prop in the View Port now requires a double-click. Holding the Control key and double-clicking to select multiple sub-props does not work.

Even though it is still possible to select multiple sub-props in the Scene Manager, this is not always practical.

For example, I have a Walking Street Scene, which consist of a top prop node with all elements of the scene as sub-props. I want to hide a certain area of the scene by hiding the items located in that area. The parts are labeled, but the labeling doesn't tell us where any specific part is located, so hiding the desired part is by trial and error. In contrast, selecting those same parts in the View Port is easy, as the user can see exactly where they are located in the scene.

Because pre-existing functionality is no longer provided, I'm classifying this as a bug. I don't feel that double-clicking to select sub-props in the View Port provides any advantage. However, some users may like this new way of selecting.

Here are a few suggestions to solve this:

1. Have Control + left-click select any additional object in the View Port, whether top-level or sub-prop. That would be my preference.

2. Have Control + double left-click select any additional sub-props in the View Port. This is less desirable in my opinion.

3. Make double-clicking to select a sub-prop optional. If not enabled, selection behavior would be as before version 7.3. If enabled, on of the options 1 or 2 needs to be implemented to allow the multiple selection of sub-props in the view port.

NOTE: If there is currently a way to select multiple sub-props in the View Port that I'm not aware of, please let me know.

That may be so, but this is not always practical in large scenes.

So I would like to have one of the options implemented (that I mentioned in my entry) so that sub-props can be selected in the view port.

Hi animagic,

Because selecting a sub-prop in the View Port now requires a double-click,now you can only Select multiple sub-props from Scene Manager.
