Kronos Studio Plugin (Free SFX Program) -to simplify Foley, create and direct Cinematic audio, footsteps, creatures, animals, weapons, vehicles etc
I highly recommend you get in touch & partner with Kronos guys, they have a free version of their studio that can make concepting with foley effects, cinematic audio presentation fast & accurate. They also have a paid plugin called reformer pro that allows users to talk as creature voices which can be customized etc which could help drive live facial mocap https://www.krotosaudio.com/p/krotos-studio/

The UI of the studio is very easy, once satisfied with results, the user presses a process button and is then built as an audio clip. If you partnered with Kronos to create a plugin that works with iClone, you could add a designation button which would switch to iC8's user selected audio track ie; voice, background etc.

Users would not have to learn to use a DAW. Audio professionals/designers could use the professional version of the studio or other major paid Krotos plugins with advanced concepts to take it to the next level upgrading the user's projects.

@Animagic, the concern of "current complexity" you are suggesting is an assumption. Just because developers add a new feature doesn't make it automatically broken. Audio effects processing isn't something Reallusion would have to add in this case. The audio processing is done from the external program then imported into iClone at the cursor position on the timeline ;) (the VST is simply an import function for this particular program) The only feature that would be needed to be built is VST support under the hood (hidden) to at least launch this one specific external program and maybe the ability to selected what audio track will have the audio imported into. Users would have no burden of needing to learn a daw + Krotus studio + importing video reference in the DAW or learn a video editor, no need to create extra files and take up Hard drive space.

Suggesting to use other programs, leads users away from Reallusion products which is fine for more complex/mastery situations but when users want a basic presentation at least, smart visualizing and ease of implementation, iClone should at least be able to provide the one stop solution.

The reasoning of "burden" of adding VST would also have to apply to "Open Python" should they drop support for open python? The burden falls on each python developer and maybe the end user if they choose to use a particular plugin just as it would for Kronos Studio which is a LE version. If you are an audio engineer/designer you might be keen on using the Professional version which will likely come at a fairly high cost for serious work and land you more clients hired sophisticated iClone projects. - Work easier, faster, not harder.

I hope that relieves some of your concerns and help inspire you to create some amazing projects in time.

Given the current complexity of iClone and stability issues, adding an audio processing component would burden the developers and the system even more and lead the numerous complaints.

Audio handling in iClone is just good enough to get lip-synching done, the rest should be handled in post in my opinion.

Most video editors accept plugins already and anyone serious about making movies should at least learn how to use an editor.
