Editing Tags on Multiple Characters Can Cause Characters To Be ***DELETED***
Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to a custom folder holding several characters (at least 5). 2. Select all of the characters. 3. Right click and select "Edit Tags" (See Pic 1 for the demonstration. Note the SIX characters in the folder.) 4. Enter a new tag name and hit enter. (See Pic 2.) 5. *While the tags are being assigned to the selected characters*, quickly enter another tag name and hit enter. 6. Do this several times *while tags are being assigned.* (See Pic 3 for the resulting assignments.)
Expected Result: > All characters have the entered tags added to their metadata.
Actual Result: > Some characters have been deleted from the folder. A search for those characters in the Reallusion Custom table using Windows File Explorer yields no results. The files are gone. In Pic 4, notice that there is only ONE character remaining in the folder. Note this is the same folder as the one started with. In Pic 5, you'll see that the six files were in the Reallusion Custom folder. In Pic 6, you'll see that only ONE character remains there.
As mentioned, searching the Reallusion Custom folder hierarchy did not find the missing files. I even did a search of the entire drive. The other five files (characters) are DELETED.
I lost over 3 hours of work because of this bug. =(
Thank you for the detailed report. We are very sorry to hear that you lost over 3 hours of work due to this issue.
Our QA team has attempted to reproduce the problem using the exact steps provided, but the files remained intact during our testing. Since this occurs during rapid, consecutive actions, it is highly possible that a background process or an I/O delay is conflicting with the file-writing process.
To help us isolate the root cause, could you please check and try the following:
Temporarily disable background software: Please temporarily turn off your antivirus real-time protection, active scanning, or any automatic backup/cloud sync software (such as Norton, OneDrive, etc.), and try reproducing the issue again.
Check the Antivirus Quarantine: Look into your antivirus security history or quarantine vault to see if the missing files were mistakenly flagged as suspicious and moved there.
Test on a local SSD (C: Drive): If your E: drive is an external drive, traditional HDD, or network drive (NAS), please copy some test characters to your local system C: drive (SSD). Perform the same rapid tagging process to see if the issue persists.
Check for temporary files: Enable hidden files in Windows File Explorer and check if there are any leftover .Temp files in your Custom folder.
If the issue still occurs after trying these methods, we may need to schedule a remote session with you to investigate further.
Looking forward to your update, thank you.
Tina
