Compatibility Issue: ZBrush Pose Link v1.04 broken for older ZBrush versions (Pre-2026.1.1)
I am writing to report a critical compatibility issue found in the latest ZBrush Pose Link (v1.04.3631.1).
According to the latest release notes, this version was updated to align with the "new transfer directory" for ZBrush 2026.1.1. However, it appears that this change has completely broken the connectivity for users on older ZBrush versions, including legacy Maxon and Pixologic builds.

[Environment]
Character Creator: v4.65
ZBrush Pose Link: v1.04
ZBrush Version: ZBrush 2022.0.8
Note: I have confirmed that the "ZBrush Pose Tools" plugin is correctly installed on the ZBrush side.

[Issue Details]
Standard GoZ functions (mesh transfer) work flawlessly between CC4 and ZBrush.
However, the ZBrush Pose Link is entirely unresponsive.
The ZBrush-side plugin fails to receive any pose or morph data from CC4.
I suspect the cause is that the plugin’s reference path is now hardcoded to the ZBrush 2026 directory, preventing users with older directory structures from synchronizing.

[Request]
Could you please provide a patch to restore compatibility with previous ZBrush versions? Alternatively, adding a feature in the Pose Link settings to manually define the transfer directory would be an incredible help, not just for me, but for all users facing the same challenge.
[Visual Evidence / Reproduction Video]
I have recorded a video demonstrating that while standard GoZ works, Pose Link remains unresponsive:

This issue has become a major bottleneck for our current XR project. We truly understand and appreciate how important and meaningful this free plugin is to the community. We look forward to your support and a swift resolution.

Best regards,

Closing the ticket: A manual workaround for those facing the same Pose Tools issue

I have been working with the support team to resolve this bug, but unfortunately, after multiple attempts, no improvement has been achieved. I am closing this inquiry as it has reached a dead end.

However, I want to leave a "breadcrumb" here for anyone else in the world who might be lost in the same situation.

Current Manual Workaround (As of January 31, 2026): Currently, the only way to bypass this issue is to use "GoZ." If you need to access the "Pose Link" data, you can find it stored in the following directory:

\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\Reallusion\ZBrushData\CCPoseManager\goz\current

While it is highly inefficient, you can manually import the files from this folder into ZBrush one by one. It is better than having no solution at all.

I sincerely hope this bug will be properly addressed in a future update.

Dear ChengJhong,

Thank you for your guidance.

I have double-checked the directory, and I can confirm that both 'PoseTools.zsc' and the 'PoseToolsData' folder are correctly installed in ZStartup/ZPlugs64, as shown in the attached screenshot.

I have also verified that the "Pose Tools" plugin is correctly recognized within ZBrush and appears in the Zplugin menu. The plugin itself is functioning, but the link/communication with Character Creator 4 remains unresponsive despite the exchange files being generated in the Documents folder.

Since we have confirmed the installation is correct, I would appreciate it if we could proceed with the remote session as Joanne suggested to identify the root cause of this issue.

Thank you for your kind assistance and for looking into this.

Best regards,

Wataru

Please make sure the zsc and folder are copied to ZStartUp/ZPlug64 since you are using 2022.0.8

Dear Reallusion Support Team,

Thank you very much for your quick response and support.

I have reinstalled both "Pose Link" and "ZBrush Pose Tools" from the URL you provided and tested them again. However, unfortunately, the issue has not been resolved yet. ZBrush still does not react when I click "Send Current Pose" in CC4.

As you requested, I have confirmed that the files are being correctly generated in the specified directory:
C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\Reallusion\ZBrushData\CCPoseManager
(Please refer to the attached screenshots showing the updated timestamps and the generated .GoZ files in the subfolder.)

This problem might be specific to certain localized environments, such as the Japanese Windows environment. As I mentioned before, this tool is extremely valuable for our XR project, and we truly rely on its functionality for our workflow.

We would greatly appreciate it if your engineering team could continue investigating this issue. I look forward to the next update.

Best regards,

Wataru
