vr viewport
Typing out loud. These are just a few thoughts for enhancements to iClone.

It would be nice if iClone had a VR viewport option. I see the viewport as having a dedicated camera starting were the preview camera starts. This way the user could move around the set and rearrange the props as required. I could also see it being very useful for direct puppeting character animations. I can see the viewport having the option to view the timeline or at least pick the current frame number. This could be really useful especially for those of us who are using iClone to help VR development.

It would also be nice to be able to have the same capability in 3-D exchange.

I'm also waiting for a inexpensive CAD package potentially TurboCAD to incorporate a VR viewpoint. It would also be really cool if a CAD package could import the FBX while being able to manipulate the object would be ideal to salving the object available could be useful for reference in developing assets for iClone.

I have to set up a new VR computer today. I will experiment with importing an FBX into their medium package which is a 3-D sculptor and see what I can do. Medium is capable of saving and FBX I want to see if these properly important into 3-D exchange. Potentially this could be very useful. Especially if the colors are maintained.

If reallusion doesn't want to let people manipulate objects in VR another possibility would be an explicit VR set dressing program. This could let people import assets from their reallusion library and layout an initial set which could then be saved as a reallusion project.

Obviously at this point I am playing around a lot with VR and also thinking about ways to improve the iClone workflow.

I'll retired engineer and I use iClone to make what I consider amusing videos for my friends and to keep my mind active. I could see some of these tools also being useful in the real animated movie production.

Without idea in mind and looking at one of the iClone plug-ins which allows lighting to be controlled from your phone. Imagine being able to share in iClone viewscreen between computers and potentially onto a VR headset. This would give the director the option of moving around the set to direct the action.
