Issue 12647
Make 2d Background work like Image Layers now do
The changes that you've made to the way Image Layers work is wonderful and came as a surprise to me with a recent update. Really nice idea, and really well implemented.

I would like to formally request that you consider changing the way 2D Background works in iClone so it functions like Image Layers do.

Right now, multiple Image Layers (as OVERlays) can be added, and their layer order / opacity changed. Opacity is a value which can be keyframed, so one can change the visible Image Layer at a given point in the animation sequence. (This was actually possible with the old image layers, I believe, but still it got me thinking...)

2D Background could be made to operate in the same way... multiple background image layers (as UNDERlayments), with their own layer order buttons and opacity values, with opacity keyframeable. Up to you how to handle the ability to let users still pick a solid color as their 2d background, there are several possibilities here.

As an alternative to this implementation, you *could* instead choose to allow the stack of Image Layer elements extend to the background (i.e. the animation itself is in the "middle" of the stack, and image layers can be positioned in front of the animation (like existing Image Layers do) or behind the animation (as the 2D Background currently does).

This would result in an extremely versatile layering system, allowing for some amazing possibilities, whether the user is doing 3D Design or AI Studio. And it solves the current awkwardness of having to go into Project Settings to update the Background with no way to change the background on the timeline.

Keep up the great work!
