Issue 5708
Losing Smoothing groups when opened in 3DS Max
Hi,

When exporting .FBX'es, the smoothing groups of non-native CC3 clothing is lost.

If the .FBX is opened directly in Unity (not through any editing program), the smoothing groups are just fine, but when opened in 3DS Max, the smoothing is completely gone, and the smoothing groups are non-existing. This is a massive issue when there are multiple characters that needs to go through 3DS Max, and need smoothing groups manually added (again).

Hi!

Sorry, this is still going on.

This is how I manage to break it:

- Import clothes directly into CC3 as an .OBJ (as 3DXchange doesn't work), has smoothing added in 3DS Max which is working CC3.
- Export the character directly into the Unity Project, Smoothing is still fine
- Open the .FBX from Unity to Max, now the smoothing is removed from the added .OBJ-content.

This also happens when adding characters in unity through the Unity plugin.

Hi billing_49,

Thanks for your feedback!
In order to check this issue properly, please provide your character FBX as Zip file to us.
You can attach this file in your next comment.
If the file size is larger than 10MB, you can use cloud services such as Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive to make the files available to us and put the link in your comment.
You can use Private Comment if you want to keep it private.
Also, please make sure when you import FBX to 3dsMax, the default smoothing group checkbox will uncheck, you have to check it manually, so that smoothing group data will be import.
Your help is highly appreciated!

Reallusion.
