Importing Transparent MOV files into Cartoon Animator 5 (Question/Suggestion)
I could have sworn that around the same time Cartoon Animator gained the ability to export transparent MOV files that it also gained the ability to import them as well?

However after extensively searching the feedback tracker, forum, video tutorials etc. the only thing I could find on importing transparent MOV files into Cartoon Animator is confirmation that the software doesn't, in fact, support this. See this link:

https://www.reallusion.com/FeedBackTracker/Issue/Tutorial-Videos-on-Importing-Animations-in-CTA-4-5-By-Kai/

Is this true? If so, why was PopVideo Maker discontinued as a product given it is the only way to create transparent video from a non Reallusion source that will work with Cartoon Animator?

If not, I've attached system info just in case you need it to work out why transparent MOV files imported into both CA4 and 5 on my system have a black background. In every other app with transparent MOV support they work just fine.

If importing transparent MOV files is not supported can I ask this functionality be added in on the next update. It would increase CA5's usability so much without adding any additional complexity to the user interface (in fact many people, like myself, are under the impression CA5 does support importing transparent MOV files).

There are a lot of animated assets out there, for use with After Effects, Premiere Pro, and other video editors that come in the form of Transparent Mov files (such as the AE Packs sold by AE Juice) that would have even more functionality if they could be brought directly into CA5 where further animation could be applied.

That's all very well for content created with CTA5 which supports popvideo exports but what if you want to bring in transparent video effects from elsewhere (such as AE Juice's FX library which features hundreds of transparent videos)?

Reallusion discontinued their Pop video creator product so there's no actual way to convert a transparent MOV file to .popvideo (unless you can get hold of an old license). At the very least Reallusion could release Popvideo creator as a free app if it's too hard to incorporate transparent MOV imports into CTA5.

hi to both of you

I had found this to be a little of a let down in the support offered

lets hope there is a update that can support this function as they have dropped so many products.

This is a serious flaw with CT4/5. Please do something about it. Importing the transparent mov, that you have just created inside the program, cannot be played back without the black border around it. As there is no chroma key to mask out the border it is a waste of time trying to import transparent mov.

The ability to import and export transparent MOV files into Cartoon Animator is a must. Without it, the software is limited for a lot of animation productions.
