3DXChange crashes on FBX import (exported G8M from DAZ Studio 4.10 Pro)
Hello,

I have a modified Genesis 8 Male with clothes and hair in DAZ Studio 4.10 Pro.

I followed the instructions to apply the Genesis8_Male_iCloneFaceKey.duf file to the model to get facial adjustments working.

I exported as FBX (attached are my FBX export settings).

On 3DXChange 7.4 PRO when I open the FBX file, the progress bar starts, but then the entire application simply closes without error messages or warnings. I have done the same thing with a similar model (G8M, clothes, hair, even prop glasses) and everything worked as expected and the model imported into iClone properly. Not sure what the problem is here.

I would like to attach my FBX file I exported, but the site doesn't seem to allow me to attach it. It is about 60MB 7-zipped. Is there a filesize limit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, it might be the file size or the clothes, because I can open the model just fine in 3DXChange if I remove the clothing and hair prior to export to FBX. If I keep the clothes and hair the filesize is greater than 100MB.

Hello,

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! You guys are great!

FYI, it took me awhile to figure this out, but in order to get the hair to fit the model in iClone, I had to unparent the hair from my model in Daz3D (which allowed it to retain its shape) and then I exported to FBX choosing "selected" and have only the hair selected.

If I tried to export the hair by itself from a new document, I couldn't change its scale at all in iClone (or 3DXChange), and if I didn't unparent it from the model the entire model came along with the export.

Again, many thanks to you and your team! Consider this issue resolved.

Hi claytonrumley,

Team supposes that this FBX has the high mesh amount, 3DXchange is 32 bit application - it has the memory usage limitation, can not exceed 4G, so failed to load/handle this FBX file.
It is recommended to export the hair and the character separately as the attached image, and import them to 3DX separately.  

PS. Use hair as an accessory.

Hello guys, sorry to bump in but I have the same issue while exporting from cat using max 2011 with skin modifier, where do you get this per bones per vertex and quality settings tab? THX

Please provide your FBX file to help us identify the problem. Attach the file in your next comment. If the file size is larger than 10MB, you can use cloud services such as Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive to make the files available to us and put the link in your comment.
