System Requirements

Recommended Requirements

  • 64-bit Intel/AMD multi-core processor
  • 16 GB RAM
  • SSD, 10 GB free hard disk space
  • 2x Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6G) / 1070 or higher
  • 8 GB video memory.

Minimum Requirements

  • 64-bit Intel/AMD multi-core processor
  • 16 GB RAM
  • SSD, 10 GB free hard disk space
  • Nvidia GeForce 970
  • 4 GB video memory

Nvidia CUDA GPU Reference

Operating System

  • Windows 10, 8, and 7 (Service Pack 1)
  • Support for 64-bit operating system
  • DirectX 11 (required)

CPU Only

Iray Render plugin will run without GPU, but for best performance we recommend using Nvidia GPUs.
Iray will resort to CPU rendering under the following conditions:

  • Running on AMD graphics card.
  • Running on Nvidia GPU without CUDA compute capability 3.0 or higher.
  • Using a Nvidia GPU driver that doesn't support CUDA 9.0 or higher.

Performance Note

Iray runs best on systems with abundant video memory. In the event of VRAM depletion, Iray will recruit system memory. Depletion of both VRAM and system memory may increase system instability and cause the program to crash.

For rendering of larger projects, keep an eye on the GPU memory gauge and do the following steps if it turns red:
