Introduction to the Expression Editor (New for 5.4)

After characterization, you can add facial expression data to the character by using the Expression Editor. Please click the Expression Editor button in the Face Setup section.

  1. Facial Expression Related tabs: Click on the tab to switch to different pages for setting the bone transformation limits and morphing strengths.
Please refer to the The Mapping Between Expression Editor and iClone Panels section for more information.
  2. Thumbnail: The thumbnails change according to the current tab. Each thumbnail can store its respective bone transformation limits and morphing strengths to determine the resulting animation behavior.
  3. Save and Load buttons: You may use these two buttons to save the current status of the thumbnails in each tab and load the settings back for further adjustments.
  4. Copy and Paste buttons: Use these two buttons to copy and paste the status from one thumbnail to another. These two buttons can only be used for the thumbnails in the Viseme, Muscle and Custom tabs.
  5. Bone Display: Press the down/up the buttons to show/hide the bones. Change the number to adjust the display size of the bones in the 3D viewer.
  6. Bone Transformation: Adjust these values to determine the transformation limits of the selected bone. You are able to use the Move Object and Rotate Object tools instead of manually entering numbers.
  7. Morphing Strength Sliders: Drag the sliders to determine the morphing strength to be stored in the selected thumbnail. The sliders are unavailable for the Head and Eye tabs.
The number of the sliders are identical to the number of the morphing models you have added in the Morph List.
  8. Set and Clear buttons: Click the Set button to save the current bone transformation limits and morphing strengths data to the currently selected thumbnail. You may also press down the Auto button to auto save the data instead of repetitively clicking the Set button after each adjustment. Click the Clear button to clear the data saved in currently selected thumbnail.
