Issue 650
real world scale / units in 3D exchange AND Iclone
Hey RL-Team

A real missing feature from the beginning of Iclone is the real world measurement. Scale 100 says nothing about the imported props and the size of it.

The real units taken from the imported (3d exchamge converted) objects would be VERY VERY useful. For example i create a cube with 20cmx25cmx10cm and convert it via 3d exchange to iclone i like to see the real size of this cube in 3D exchange AND in Iclone. Perhaps a little idea but a MILESTONE in composing the world with real units.

Go on with your great work and integrate more useful features like THIS :-)

Ok .....it's been a couple years since the last comment about the need for some sort of measurement tools in iClone. Any progress?

It's really the responsible of the source to define it right. If they do, objects will import sized correctly, I have found. So it's not a bug.

iClone, as do some other applications, uses centimeters as units, but unfortunately there is no universal standard. Especially Sketchup models suffer from inconsistent scaling by the modeler.

That said, it would be helpful to have some sort of measuring tool available. The built-in figure is not always sufficient.
