Is there a way to have a character bite their bottom lip using Motion LIVE mocap??

Hello. Future Reallusion user here. Doing some research into the products and ecosystem. I have a general question about using the iOS Live app for doing facial motion capture.

The characters I will create will be of a stylized kind, and expression and emotion is very important. I have been doing research into the tools, and it's definitely going to be fun to finally be able to tell the story I've written. I''ve seen very impressive results here on Reallusion's site, and one that is really important is facial mocap.

But I saw a video showing a mocap where the actor had bitten their bottom lip with excitement (and was a great expression for the read she was doing), but the character didn't bite it's lip along with her. I really would love to know if this action is possible within: A) the Motion LIVE software—is there a slider, or a checkbox, or some way we can make that happen? B) the CC5/iClone 8 software—something that can added afterwards?

This is not a purchase-breaking question, but it is an important one. I would post a link but I'm having trouble finding the video...

Has anyone done this? Is this possible in the CC5/iClone 8/Reallusion software?

Hi Brian,

Thank you for the detailed question.

Currently, Motion LIVE + AccuFACE likely can't capture a detail as specific as a lip bite. What it can capture is a tightened, pulled-in lip shape, but if the goal is showing the upper teeth while biting down on the lower lip, that's beyond what pure facial mocap can reproduce.

That said, after your mocap performance is captured, you can still refine it manually in Character Creator using the Facial Profile Editor. This lets you sculpt a custom, more detailed lip-bite expression on top of (or blended into) the captured animation, giving you the precise stylized read you're looking for.
