Issue 687
3DXChange Pipeline 6 crashes on "Make Sub-Prop" - I think I solved it, so really an FYI is someone else hits it
I very recently upgraded to the Pipeline version. I have a model that I have been working with for over a year on the non-Pipeline version. My model has a list of meshes in the Scene Tree. I have always been able to make a sub mesh of each item in the list prior to using "Apply to iClone".

I can't seem to get through the list without Pipeline crashing. It is not related to the item that I am making a sub-prop for as it crashes in different places in the list.

In order to see if I could find a pattern, I made several runs through my scene list in exactly the same order.

I kept track of which object I had asked to make into a sub mesh and unchecked it from the scene list for the next pass through in order to eliminate it as an item that I would make a sub mesh out of.

While not consistent to a specific item number in counting the number of objects that had been made, the crash was between the 45th to 52nd item in the list.

I can add the following information from Microsoft Visual Studio

1st pass
Unhandled exception at 0x158C2E70 (ltc_game32-116096.dll) in iClone3DXchange.exe: 0xC000041D: An unhandled exception was encountered during a user callback.

2nd pass
Unhandled exception at 0x14EC2E70 (ltc_game32-116096.dll) in iClone3DXchange.exe: 0xC000041D: An unhandled exception was encountered during a user callback.

3rd pass
Unhandled exception at 0x14D22E70 (ltc_game32-116096.dll) in iClone3DXchange.exe: 0xC000041D: An unhandled exception was encountered during a user callback.

4th pass
Unhandled exception at 0x179E2E70 (ltc_game32-116096.dll) in iClone3DXchange.exe: 0xC000041D: An unhandled exception was encountered during a user callback.

5th pass
Unhandled exception at 0x15912E70 (ltc_game32-116096.dll) in iClone3DXchange.exe: 0xC000041D: An unhandled exception was encountered during a user callback.

I looked up error code 0xC000041D and found a troubleshooting session where it was suggested to look in the reliability log in windows 8.

My machine is running windows 10, so I opened Event Viewer/Custom Views/Administrative Events and all of my crashes were listed.

In the general tab, it does peg iClone3DXchange as the faulting application and ltc_game32-116096.dll as the faulting module. The faulting application path is listed as iClone3DXchange, but...

The faulting module path is listed as being in ... \PlaysTV\ltc-game32-116096.dll.

PlaysTV was installed with my video card driver update and it is supposed to allow you to watch recorded games or record you own (I think). I never wanted it, but it hadn't caused a problem so I let it live.

I have now removed the software via Programs and Features and 3DXchange went through my entire Scene Tree list and made every Sub-Prop without any issues at all. I sent the file to iClone with no issues either.

So, I think I fixed this myself, but thought it might be worth reporting in case someone else encounters the same issue.

My video card is an AMD Radeon R9 200 Series and it was the AMD driver software package that included the PlaysTV software. The Radeon settings software that was last loaded is version 2016.0718.1747.30147.

I hope this helps someone down the line.
