Rules

  1. Participants must use Cartoon Animator 4 PRO or Pipeline in the creation of their videos. Know More about Cartoon Animator >
    *  If you don't have Cartoon Animator, then you may acquire a Free Trial version.
  2. Upload your final video entry on YouTube or Vimeo.
    1. For Vertical shorts category, please upload the video to TikTok, or Youtube / Instagram as “Reels”.
  3. The title of the video entries must begin with the text: "Animation At Work 2022".
  4. The video description of the entries must include "Cartoon Animator link: https://www.reallusion.com/cartoon-animator/default.html"
    Descriptions need to include these hashtags: #CartoonAnimator #Reallusion
  5. Upload your WIP videos on Youtube or Vimeo and inspire fellow contestants! Animation at Work 2022 is an educational contest.
    Submissions without WIP videos will be disqualified. (The WIP video must contain key steps oin how you made the animation with Caroon Animator)
  6. All video entries must have the Contest logo at the end for at least 3 seconds.

Submission Type & Video Length

Use an animated video as a commercial to promote a realistic or fictional idea, product or service.
Video length: at least 1 minute
Here we encourage graphic art designers who can turn original static drawings, illustrative art or comic images into an animation.
Video length: over 30 seconds
Using animated video for educational purposes such as storytelling, songs for kids, or learning videos.
Video length: at least 1 minute
Create a short vertical 2D animation and upload it to Youtube, Instgram and TikTok. Video length must be 15 seconds above.
Video length: over 15 seconds

Use Cartoon Animator into your VLOG and Vtuber projects. The animated 2D characters should blend well with the video contents, and help illustrate a story.

    Descriptive Power
    • A persuasive and understandable storyline, with a tempo that makes people want to watch along with audio narrations, sound and visual effects.
  • 30%
    Character Creation
    • Participants are allowed to use existing characters and assets acquired from the Reallusion Content Store.
    • Original creations or significantly modified Content Store characters are preferred.
  • 30%
    Animation Skill
    • Create intricate facial expressions, talking animations with appropriate mouth shapes.
    • Distinctive body motion styles for characters and animations. Cartoon physics with motion curves are preferred.
    • Deliver natural interactions with Scenes, Props and other characters.
  • 20%
    WIP Video Submission
    • Participants must submit a WIP video on Youtube or Vimeo and explain the key steps of how you made the animation.

    • Transform static comic/images into engaging short stories or animated pieces.
    • Participants can create short trailers with rich character personalities and dramatic behaviors.

    Character Creation
    • Original character designs are required.
    • Original properly displayed character designs are preferred. (Prove your original designs)

    Animation Skill
    • Create intricate facial expressions, talking animations with appropriate mouth shapes.
    • Distinctive body motion styles for characters and animations. Cartoon physics with motion curves are preferred.
    • Deliver natural interactions with Scenes, Props and other characters.

    • Deliver natural interactions with Scenes, Props and other characters.

Vlog & Vtuber

Other Rules & Encouragement

  • Less is more. We are aiming for quality submissions only, so for each category and special prize, the maximum number of submissions is 1. The maximum submission for one contestant: 5 (all categories with 1 entry submitted)
  • Earn Extra Credits
  • Winners will be posted on the 'Animation at Work' website, on the Reallusion forum pages and notified through e-mail.
  • Winners will get a chance to be featured in well-known media outlets, and possible interviews for additional exposure.
  • Winners will have an opportunity to be selected as Feature Developers, or work on outsourced projects to monetize their creations to the Cartoon Animator 2D community. Know More >
  • Submitted videos may incorporate footage from other videos or commercial clips for a media mash-up, but the submission would need to have at least 40% Cartoon Animator generated footage inside.
  • Video entries may be submitted in any language but they MUST have English voice dubs, or subtitles for worldwide viewing and appreciation. Take note that this is an international competition.
  • At Reallusion's request, winners may be asked to provide additional contact information for purpose of prize delivery.
  • Reallusion reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control, or if the number of participants do not exceed the minimum number decided by Reallusion.
  • Reallusion states that all winner announcements are final. Winners will not be chosen based on popularity votes or any other factors other than overall judgment from the judging panel.
  • By submitting an entry, participants automatically agree and certify that they have read and agreed to all the rules and requirements governing this particular event. By submitting videos, participants also grant Reallusion the permission to use their creative work in any future marketing events, advertisement campaign, or promotions held by Reallusion.
  • Reallusion would like to make clear that it does not profit from this event. All Reallusion competitions are done out of good faith and with the purpose of sharing ideas and bringing communities together.
