Upon the release of G3 CloneCloth, we are expecting many G3 texture submissions from our CCD members.
We expect our CCD members to submit Material files for their texture pack submissions since materials are easier to apply.
However, when you save a material file, the default thumbnail will shape like a ball. To make it clearer to the users, you need to change the thumbnails.
How it works:
1.Create thumbnails.
2.Convert the material files to prop files.
3.Load thumbnails to these prop files.
4.Convert the prop files back to material files.
For more details, please follow the step-by-step instructions below.
1. Create thumbnails.
1-1. Open iClone and load the avatar that the material will be taken from
1-2. Go to Avatar/Upper and create a custom upper body by pressing the Add button
1-3. Maximize the custom upper body icon by pressing the View button
1-4. Use your screen capture software to capture the icon and save the file as jpg
2.Convert the material files to prop files.
2-1. Open Command Prompt.
2-2. Go to the folder where your material files are.
For example, type in cd C:\Program Files\Reallusion\iClone 3\Template\iClone Template\Materials Lib\My Materials
2-3. Type in ren *.iMtl *.vns to change the material files to vns files.
2-4. Copy the vns file to the props folder in iClone custom template folder. iClone custom template folder can usually be found at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Reallusion\Custom\iClone 3 Custom
3. Load thumbnails to these prop files.
3-1. Now go to Set/props. You will find your material files there.   3-2. Right click on the file which you want to change the thumbnail, and choose Load thumbnail.
3-3. Voila! You now have made a thumbnail for the material
3-4. Repeat the above process to make thumbnails for lower bodies and shoes
4. Convert the prop files back to material files.
4-1. Rename the vns files back to Material files by going back to Command Prompt and type in ren *.vns *.iMtl.
You are now ready to submit your very first G3 texture pack!
