2) Why is there no sound when I import .mp3 music files but it's fine with .wav files though?
One of ULEAD's products' MP3 codecs causes this issue. To resolve this conflict, simply remove or rename the following file:
“C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG\MPEGACM.acm”
[Top] |
3) How do you resolve a character's legs showing through her dress?
Some textures may result in a character’s legs showing through her dress. To solve this issue simply paint parts of the opacity map in black to hide the legs.
Remove the opacity map to revert the effects (show the legs again).
[Top] |
4) Why can't I see the effects for animated Reflection Maps?
Reflection maps and reflection effects create a conflict in the Material Track, please refrain from using both at the same time. This would confuse the rendering kernel operation.

5) How can I add the 'Spring' effect on old G1/G2 characters?
- Go to Actor/Avatar/Modify/Bone System Modification and click import
- Open up the “Soft_Breast.spx” located under “C:\Program Files\Reallusion\iClone3\Template\iClone template\Avatar Setting” folder
If you did not see the file in the "Avatar Setting" folder, Please make sure the file type is "VMS SPX Files (*.spx)".

6) The flags from the 'Flags and Banners' Props Pack are not moving!
Some of the projects use an Animated Camera as the initial camera. If those projects used a still camera it would cause abnormalities. Try switching to Preview Camera to fix this issue.

7) Using right click to make a character walk sometimes automatically adds Transform or Camera keys. How do I prevent that from happening?
Please make sure you did not accidently drag the mouse while right clicking. You can switch to Director Mode and use the Hotkeys to control your character instead.
Do your editing using the “Preview Camera” to avoid automatically adding camera keys.

8) How do

- In Director Mode, when the actor is in selection ,
Ctrl-click on the target iProp to trigger the default
operate command.

9) Why does
my water change with 2D Background color?
When there is no “Sky” in the scene, iClone3
use 2D Background color for Water reflection. 2D Background
image is ignored in this situation.

10) How do I hide the display of water?
You can use "Ctrl + F7" to turn on/off the effect of water.

11) How can I load my LivePlants 3D Scenes (World Wilderness) successfully in iClone3?
Since iClone3 redefines 3D Scene with a new data structure, the 3D old scene will be converted into prop after being imported. Unfortunately, the LivePlants originally included in the scene will be ignored and only the scene models are retained. However, if you load projects containing the LivePlants scenes, the entire scene can be completely preserved.
Here is the process to recover LivePlants Scene in iClone3
1. Prepare LivePlants projects
- In iClone 2.x, apply a LivePlants scene then save the project.
- Or just use the LivePlants projects that came with the pack.
2. Load the LivePlants project to iClone3
3. Convert 3D scene model into Terrain component
- Select the scene model by clicking it in the 3D viewer, or in Scene Manager under the "Prop" category. With the scene model selected, execute "Add to Terrain" command in the right-click menu. Now the scene model becomes a Terrain component.
- Select the component in Scene Manager now under "Terrain" category.
- Go to Terrain Modify panel; uncheck "Use Bounding Mesh" option. This means iClone3 will use the scene model itself as the bounding mesh.
4. Save the 3D scene
- Switch to Stage/3D Scene, press "Add" button under Content Manager to save the scene model and all LivePlants as a new iClone3 3D Scene.
Besides recovering LivePlants scenes, all trees & grass in these scenes can also be "Add" to the "Tree" and "Grass" assets in iClone3, and then can be applied to any other terrains with all the editing capabilities.

12) When I am applying the props, the size becomes huge. Also, when I am attaching to the props, the size becomes huge.
These situations occur if the props were created in iClone2.5. The cause is that iClone3 has many improved functions and added various new features- therefore the process is quite different from that of iClone2.5. The iClone3 is much more exact than that of iClone2.5; however, iClone3 importing or attaching props made within iClone2.5 might produce some issues such as huge size and so on. You can easily adjust the sizes by locking the x,y,z coordinates of the scaling tool and adjust them to the desired size.
[Top] |
13) Somehow, I can’t pick some parts of the object.
The cause is that you are only allowed to pick the front of the object in iClone3. However, both front and back could be picked in iClone2.5. Since iClone3 is In-screen object editing, meaning objects can be dragged and dropped as well as selected in the 3D preview window, this could cause a problem of too many objects being selected- thus we only allow the front of the object to be selected. Furthermore, there are two methods in iClone3 which can be deployed to help you to pick objects easily. One of the methods is that you can utilize the ‘Select’ button on the toolbar above the 3D preview window to highlight and pick multiple objects. Another method is that you utilize the ‘Scene Manager’ to select the objects from the menu. When you select the objects via Scene Manager, the object will automatically be selected in the 3D preview window as well.

14) The projects had been created in iClone2.5. When I open them via iClone3, the link position and character size is wrong. Why?
For example, you had created a project in iClone2.5, which was a character link to prop, and the prop scale was not 100. Then, this project was opened in iClone3. You can find that the link position and character size will be incorrect. The cause is that the characters of iClone3 do not support scale, and the program will ignore characters’ scale. Thus, the position and size will be different from iClone2.5. In addition, the animation will be incorrect as well if the characters contain scale clip. This is the reason that old projects are not usable in iClone3.

1) How do I export high resolution animation gif files without sharp edges?
Uncheck the “Mipmap” checkbox in the Preferences window.

2) MPEG4 video
quality seems not so good, less color saturation and
blackness?
You can go to the video’s advanced option and
turn up the bit rate in iClone3. When you render a bigger
video resolution image you need to value up the bit
rate in iClone3 to higher the video quality.
- DVD size: use bit rate 512, 768 or higher
- HD size: use bit rate 1500 or higher
