“My primary work is in conceptualization or pre-visualization
as it is called now. Creating storyboards are a big
part of my routine and I have not been that impressed
with the current crop of storyboard applications so
I create my own with Photoshop and 3D tools that now
include iClone Studio. The time it takes to actually
go from my own mental “image” to the storyboard
has been drastically cut by employing iClone in my production
pipeline. |

| The photo-mapping feature is by far one of the best
in terms of final result versus time spent. It is much
easier to convey an image to the actor or animator if
the character actually looks like the actor themselves.
iClone allows this to happen in a matter of minutes. Instead
of “John and Jane Doe” faces I can actually
put the actors face on the character which also helps
make a connection to the actor since they are looking
at a version of themselves. . |

To create and fully rig an animated character is an
extremely time consuming task until iClone came along
with its realtime rendering and ease of use. There is
no rigging as every character comes ready to use and changing
the look of the character can be as simple as changing
the texture map in Photoshop.
This product will blow the roof off of the whole machinima
genre when people see what can be done and how quickly
it can be done. The timeline feature is extremely powerful
in terms of what can animated. From the camera to props
there is a lot of flexibility in version 1.5 that takes
iClone to the next level in ease of animation. |
