Rectifying Accessory Location and Direction (New for 5.1)

After you have converted a custom character from other 3D tools into iClone through 3DXchange 5.0, due to the fact that the names and numbers of the bones of the custom character may not be identical to standard iClone characters, an applied accessory could be put to the root of the character or be rotated to a wrong direction. This is because that the accessory can not find the initial target bone that it is assigned to.

The wing rotates after being applied.

The arm bracer is attached to the root of the character after being applied.

You may easily solve this issue by upgrading your iClone to 5.3 and 3DXchange to 5.1 versions.

  1. Make sure that you have upgraded both iClone and 3DXchange to 5.3 and 5.1 versions or above.
  2. Load the Non-Standard Character you converted earlier in 3DXchange.
  3. Go to the Character (Shortcut: N) section and click the Convert to Non-Standard button.
  4. Deactivate the Active box and then activate it once again.
  5. Click the Convert button.
  6. Export the re-converted Non-Standard Character to iClone (Shortcut: Ctrl + E).
  7. Go to iClone, apply the re-converted character.
  8. Apply the accessories again. Their direction will be correct and the location will be as close to the original target bone as possible (please view the note at the end of this page).

    The wing's direction is rectified.

The arm bracer is attached to the forearm.

    Note:

    • You may need to fine-tune the size of the accessories.
    • If the accessory can not find its originally assigned target bone, then it will be attached to the bone one level higher than the target bone.

The wristband is attached to the Twist Bone of a G3 Standard character.

When being applied to a G5 Standard or Non-Standard character without the Twist Bones, the accessories will be attached to the forearm bones (one-higher level) instead of the roots.
