SketchUp to iCloneWINGS 3D to iCloneZBrush to iClonePoser to iCloneDAZ Studio to iCloneVue to iClone3DXchange

WINGS 3D - a free tool including a full set of features similar to the classical modeler Nendo

It is an immediate bonus to all iClone users to enjoy free 3D modeling for iClone 2. Wings3D is an Open-Source polygon mesh modeler inspired by Nendo. It allows you to intuitively build a 3D mesh and even assign materials to it. Wings3D is a subdivision modeler inspired by Nendo and Mirai from Izware.

Wings3D includes full 3D modeling features similar to the classical 3D modeling tool Nendo. It also comes with powerful features for UV Map generation which allows precise UV mapping for iClone users.

See the Application Export Data Compatibility Table for detailed supported attributes information.

How to convert 3D objects from WINGS 3D to iCone through 3DXchange?

Step 1. Prepare the scene in WINGS 3D.

  • Run WINGS 3D.
  • Apply contents, pose the figure and arrange the scene as you want.

Step 2. Export the scene to 3ds.

  • Select "File>Export" or "File>Export Selected", choose "3D Studio (.3ds).", and click the option box to specify the attribute of exporting the scene.

  • You can use these default attributes or customize the scale size, sub-division steps, export normals/smoothing groups, export UV coordinates and texture file type for your models' maps. When all parameters are done, click OK.
  • Specify the file name and path folder for the export 3ds model.

Step 3. Export the scene to obj.

  • Select "File>Export" or "File>Export Selected", choose "Wavefront (.obj).", and click the option box to specify the attribute of exporting the scene.

  • You can use these default attributes or customize parameters like exporting model as 3ds. When all parameters are done, click OK.
  • Specify the file name and path folder for the export 3ds model.

Step 4. Convert 3ds or obj into iClone vns format.

  • Run iClone 3DXchange.
  • Load the exported 3ds or obj file. It may take a few minutes to process the mesh data if the model has a huge polygon count.
  • The model position and size should look correct, but its specular or glossiness attributes disappear.
  • Adjust the "Specularity" in the Node attribute panel to recover the disappeared specular or glossiness.
  • If the result is satisfactory, choose "File>Export" or click the "Export (Ctrl + E)" button to export the vns file.
