During installation
I am asked for a product serial number, I don't have one
You do not require a product serial number to run the trial version
of our software. When installing any Reallusion products if you
enter the words 'trial version' as the serial number the software
will install with some features restricted. If you wish to later
upgrade to the Standard Edition and un-lock any restricted features
you simply are required to enter a valid product serial number which
you will receive if you purchase via our online store. You can visit
our online store at: http://www.reallusion.com/purchase.asp
In short, simply type 'trial version' for your product serial number.

During installation
"error: RPC.STUB incompatible, install will now terminate"
This appears to be a common problem caused by Microsoft releasing
a new dll that is not compatible with Win98. Some developers have
made an installer which includes this dll, thereby destroying your
system. Here is a fix:
Download: http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/Patch/1.0/WIN98/EN-US/mcrepair.EXE
Then run it, and when it prompts you to overwrite
newer files, make sure you click YES for each file
(not "No" or "No to all"). This will replace all of the 3.50 DLLs
from XP with older versions compatible with Windows 98 (2.40.4515).
This patch works for Win98 users.

Where or
how do I access the bonus model packs ?
Due to the file size, and for your convenience the bonus model packs
are split into downloadable files approximately 10MB in size. These
are accessible at any time from the Bonus Download page which can

Do I need
to download again after purchasing
After purchasing Effect3D you do not need to download the version
from the online store. If you are running Effect3D Standard Edition
in Trial mode you can enter your serial number in the following
way:
- Open either the Effect3D application,
at the prompt screen select the "Purchase" button.
- At the bottom of the Purchase screen,
you will see the following "Enter your serial number to confirm
your purchase", enter your serial number in the box and click
OK.
This will then run Effect3D in standard mode
with all the functions enabled.

Error Message:
"Error during initializing direct draw"
The most common reason for this error is due to the host system
running in 256 color mode. Effect3D must be run in High color
(16bit) or True color (24bit) mode. This can quickly and easily
be changed in the display settings found in your control panel.
If this does not solve your problem, ensure you
have the correct or most recent video card drivers installed for
you display adapter. Refer to your display adapter manufacturers
information for updates regarding Direct draw support.

Can I import
Graphic files
You can only import and animate 3d models. Effect3D allows you to
import models in the 3DS format (which in the world of 3D is really
the industry standard).
You can also import your own gif or bmp files
for use as a background. However, these can not be animated in any
way. If you wanted to animate your logo for instance it would need
to be created first in a 3D modeling environment, to do this you
need a tool like "3D Studio Max" or "Nendo".

Where can
I get more 3D models to import
There are many hundreds of sites on the Internet that offer free
3D models & objects. If you are new to 3D a great place to start
is our FREE 3D model resource page:

There are
so many effect parameters I don't know where to start
Take it easy, most of the time you can figure out what the effect
parameters are changing just by the names, which are pretty intuitive
- such as line width, line color, etc.
If you're not sure what an effect parameter is,
don't be afraid to play around with the settings and apply it to
your image. The worst case scenario is that you just need to click
the "reset" button to undo your changes. Have some fun with it!

What is
a Custom animation
Some 3D models contained in the model archive are supplied with
an in-built customized animation sequence. These animation sequences
are designed for and can only be applied to the specific model.
For instance the "Electric fan" model has a in-built animation sequence
that spins the fan blades and rotates the fan head.
