Changing Asset Type Issue When Creating Cloths In CC
I created a headdress model in Blender and it is weight mapped to the head (first Image).
When I import the headdress into CC it is set as hair but I want it as cloth so changed it. (second Image)
However, when I activate the appearance editor on the headdress it is still treated as hair and not cloth (third Image)

I want the headdress as cloth so I can set up an RGB mask for texturing different sections of it in appearance editor the same as cloth.
I have used RGB masks on many of my own CC clothes (that I have created in blender) with no problem so I have an Idea how to make them correctly.

I also saw that the headdress, with its hair style of the appearance editor, the Input section also had an RGB mask So I added the RGB mask I created for my headress to it. However, going into the Base, Primary(Red), Secondary (Green) doesn't seem to do anything when changing the settings in there.

Just to clarify this. I have made quite a lot of clothes and have had no problem getting them to work. Its only when the cloth item is weight mapped to the head CC sees it as hair and changing it to cloth while importing it doesn't change how CC sets up the appearance sections.
They are the same as hair and not the same as cloth (see third image)

EDIT
Is this a bug? I don't know?
Maybe I am missing something but I have tried it with a dozen variations and it always does the same thing

Hi Reallusion
Just wanting to give you an update with a discovery I made. Perhaps it will help find the problem if you haven't already?
Note. What I am about to say is a workaround, It doesn't answer the question why changing the type from hair to cloth when importing to CC doesn't work properly.

Anyway, I have been working on an outfit for a pope with a gown, shoulder cape and Mitre (hat).

Initially I created all the elements as a single object within Blender.
When completed I parented the clothing object (all 3 parts as a single object) to the neutral base CC characters bones (The Armature)
Then I did a copy of the weight mapping from the characters skin to the clothing object.
And finally I UV mapped it and exported from Blender and imported to CC.
Did some tests didn't like the way it worked

So went back to blender and separated the Mitre (hat) as a separate object in Blender
Now I have 2 object in Blender The Mitre as 1 and the cape and gown as the other
I didn't re-weight map the Mitre as it was already weight mapped when it was in the single object.
But I did redo the UV maps for the 2 objects and export from blender import into CC
Both objects came into CC as Cloth.
Did some more testing and liked what I had but saw the Mitre needed some changes to the mesh

So back into Blender, made the changes, re-parented the Mitre to the Armature and re-copied the weight map
re-did the UV map as well to compensate for the new meshes added then export and imported to CC.

This time the Mitre came into CC as hair.
Have done a lot of testing on this and this and now I know.

If I want something on the head as a separate cloth and not hair
      1) In Blender add the head object to something like a dress so it is all a single object.
      2) Parent that object to the bones and do the copy weight map.
      3) Separate the head object and then UV map the objects
      4) Modify the weight map to adjust where auto weight mapping isn't best
      5) Export the character as clothing and import into CC
      6) Everything comes into CC as cloth

But as soon as I parent the head object to the bones as its own separate object
It comes into CC as hair and I cant change it to cloth properly
